Carbon felt refers to polyacrylonitrile based carbon felt, which is divided into soft carbon felt and hard carbon felt (also known as cured felt, soft carbon felt is cured after adding glue). According to the different temperatures during the production process of carbon felt, it is divided into carbon felt (generally treated at around 900 degrees Celsius in China) and graphite felt (generally treated at around 1700 degrees Celsius in China). Overall, it is divided into four categories: carbon felt, graphite felt, hard carbon felt, and hard graphite felt. At present, there are three main types of carbon felt worldwide: polyacrylonitrile (PAN) based carbon felt, adhesive based carbon felt, and asphalt based carbon felt. The carbonization temperature of carbon fiber is around 1000 degrees Celsius, and the carbon content after making carbon fiber felt is about 90%. The usage temperature of carbon felt is also around 1000 degrees Celsius. Carbon fiber felt forms graphite fiber when heated to over 2000 degrees Celsius in an anaerobic environment. After being made into graphite fiber felt, the carbon content can reach over 99%, and the operating temperature of graphite felt can reach 2000 degrees Celsius. If carbon fiber felt is used in insulation environments above 2000 degrees Celsius, further reactions will occur.
Carbon felt is a type of felt made of carbon fiber, which has broad-spectrum adsorption and large capacity. After high-temperature graphitization, graphite felt can be produced. Graphite felt is mainly used as insulation material for monocrystalline silicon smelting furnaces.
Carbon felt can be used as an adsorption purification material, as an insulation material for vacuum furnaces and inert gas furnaces. In addition, carbon fiber materials have advantages in areas with strict requirements for strength, stiffness, weight, fatigue characteristics, and in situations where high temperature and chemical stability are required. The carbon content is around 90%, and the operating temperature is around 1000 degrees Celsius.
The main use of graphite felt is as an insulation material for monocrystalline silicon smelting furnaces. It can be used as a filtering material for high-purity corrosive chemical reagents in the chemical industry. Under non oxidizing atmosphere conditions, the operating temperature of graphite felt can reach around 3000 ℃.
