How to make good use of the crucible

Earlier, we have discussed the instruction for installation and several ways to prolong the service life of the crucible. In this passage, we’ll draw some conclusions.

1. For different specifications and requirements of different smelting metals, we shall choose crucible with corresponding design.

2. The new crucible should be preheated according to the regulations to expel moisture in the crucible. The specific preheating method has been introduced in the instructions for crucible use earlier, and you might refer to it, If you are green in installing it.

3. When adding additives, the metal solution should be stirred immediately and the slag on the crucible should be removed in time. Flake or block additives should be dipped using bell jars.

4. In the process of casting, we shall make sure that crucible clamp, pouring bag and other tools won’t collide or knock the crucible.

5. When cleaning the crucible, specially makde tool kit should be used to clean it while it is hot.

6. When the crucible is suspended in use, the following 3 points should be noted:

·If the use of gas or oil stove, all fans should be closed to avoid cold air invasion of the crucible, resulting in oxidation or even rupture.

· For infrequent use of crucible furnace, make sure that it is stored in a fixed area, and keep the storage environment dry.

7. Crucible furnace should be checked regularly to ensure that the crucible is fwell-functioning. The slag on the lining of the crucible furnace should be cleaned in time.
