Sagger is a specialized refractory material designed to protect fired products, serving as a fundamental component in industries such as ceramics, refractory materials, abrasives, and battery materials.

Saggers are typically used in conjunction with kiln car platforms, shelf boards, footrests, pillars, and pushers.

The primary roles of lithium battery saggers include:

1: The precursor of the battery cathode material is a powder, and during the firing process, the sagger protects it from movement, loss, and contamination due to oxygen blowing, air blasting, and flame impingement within the kiln.

2: Saggers holding loose materials enhance the kiln loading density and facilitate the loading and unloading processes.

Performance characteristics of lithium battery saggers:

1: The refractory material of the sagger should possess refractoriness higher than the operating temperature, maintaining sufficient strength to support and protect during material calcination.

2: It should have wear resistance to remain undamaged when pouring hot fired products.

3: With good corrosion resistance, the sagger material must exhibit chemical stability at high temperatures without reacting with the battery cathode materials.

4: The calcination process for lithium battery cathode materials involves alternating hot and cold cycles, requiring the sagger material to demonstrate high thermal shock resistance.
